Janet Lyness announces she will not seek re-election as Johnson County Attorney. Her current term concludes Dec. 31, 2022.

Lyness graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1989. After a clerkship for the Seventh Judicial District Court, she joined the Johnson County Attorney’s Office in 1990 as an Assistant County Attorney. In 2006, she was the first woman elected Johnson County Attorney. She was re-elected in 2010, 2014 and 2018. She is currently in the final year of her fourth four-year term. 

The League of American Bicyclists has again recognized the Johnson County Downtown Campus with a Gold-level Bicycle Friendly Business award. The campus first earned the designation in 2017.

The Johnson County website – www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov – will be down for routine security maintenance beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022. The website will not be able to be accessed during the maintenance process. It is anticipated that the website will be back up and operating as normal by 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022.

Individuals who are planning to conduct business via the County website are advised to do so prior to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022.

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces two vacancies on the Johnson County Juvenile Justice and Youth Development Policy Board.

One vacancy is for a representative of law enforcement for a term beginning upon appointment and expiring Sept. 30, 2024. One vacancy is for persons categorized as “business, parents, residents or youth” for a term beginning upon appointment and expiring Sept. 30, 2024.
