The Auditor’s Office will mail property taxpayer notification statements to Johnson County property owners containing information about proposed local government budgets and property tax rates on or by March 13, 2026. This is following Iowa Code 24.2A.

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces six vacancies on the Livable Community for Successful Aging Policy Board for three-year terms beginning upon appointment and expiring June 30, 2029. Four vacancies are for individuals affiliated with an aging/livable organization and two vacancies are for residents of Johnson County.

Weather permitting, the Bayertown Road SW bridge over a branch of Picayune Creek will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, March 16, 2026. This location is approximately five miles west/southwest of Hills, in Sharon Township.
Primary work on this bridge was completed in the fall of 2025. The remaining work will be completed this spring, including final grading, guardrail, bridge approach pavement and road surfacing.
The remaining work is anticipated to be completed by the end of April 2026. Iowa Bridge & Culvert LC of Washington, Iowa, is the prime contractor.
