Johnson County will test the voting equipment for the June 2, 2026 Primary Election at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Auditor’s Office,913 S. Dubuque St, Suite 130, Iowa City. Testing ensures all voting machines are working accurately and reliably for Election Day.
The Board of Supervisors and Conservation Board signed an agreement to invest $200,000 towards the water quality sensor network operated by IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering (IIHR) at the University of Iowa. The network provides real-time monitoring data needed to assess and improve Iowa’s water quality and has recently been hit with state and federal budget cuts.

Johnson County is hosting a free breakfast for bicycle commuters and recreational riders from 7 to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at the patio just south of the Johnson County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque St. in Iowa City.
The breakfast will include locally made empanadas, coffee, juice and fruit. Free trail maps, bike tip sheets and bike pins will also be available.
The rain location is the lower level of the nearby Health and Human Services (HHS) Building parking ramp at 855 S. Dubuque St.

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the fiscal year 2027 budget during the April 23 formal meeting. The FY27 expenditure budget totals $164.8 million, a $1.5 million decrease from fiscal year 2026. Public budget meetings started in January 2026 and included two public hearings.
