Johnson County post-election audit confirms accuracy of election results

The Johnson County Auditor’s Office completed its post-election audit for the June 2, 2026 Primary Election, confirming the accuracy of the election night results.

As part of Iowa’s commitment to election transparency and accuracy, the Iowa Secretary of State randomly selects one precinct in each county for a manual audit following each election. This year, Johnson County audited the Iowa City 11 precinct, comparing the hand-counted results to the official machine tabulation.

The audit results matched exactly, with no discrepancy found. 

Juneteenth 2026 hours for Johnson County departments and offices

Most Johnson County governmental departments and offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth.

Detailed schedule changes follow. 

Ambulance: Johnson County Ambulance Service (JCAS) will be available for routine and emergency response. The JCAS billing and administrative offices will be closed. Emergency services remain available 365 days a year. In an emergency, residents should always dial 911. 

Johnson County Treasurer's Office announces tax sale information for 2026

The Johnson County Treasurer's Office is holding its annual tax sale on Monday, June 15, 2026. Property owners in Johnson County who have outstanding taxes are reminded to settle tax obligations by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026. Failure to do so may result in properties being included in the tax sale.
