The Johnson County Board of Supervisors voted today, Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, to fund all eligible Direct Assistance Program applicants, including those who reside outside of the municipal corporate boundaries of the City of Iowa City and were not originally selected for program benefits.

Johnson County worked with Iowa City to modify terms of the original agreement between the two entities to ensure all eligible applicants receive funding.
Eastern, Iowa (IA) – Since July, local public health departments in Iowa have been coordinating with the state health department to investigate cases and contacts of monkeypox. The overall disease investigation process is similar to other public health disease investigation processes which includes community awareness, timely investigation and testing as well as follow-up as indicated.

Homeowners in unincorporated Johnson County and its smaller communities who would like to have greener and healthier lawns, without the use of chemicals, can apply to have 50% of the costs reimbursed (up to $2,000) through the County’s Soil Health Program. Homeowners who wish to participate must be pre-approved by the County and use a contractor from a pre-selected list.

The second meeting to help create a village plan and set a village boundary for Windham will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Renee’s Roadhouse, 1747 Black Diamond Road SW. Area residents, property owners and any interested persons are welcome to attend the meeting to share ideas and ask questions. Light refreshments will be provided, and the kitchen will be open for additional food purchases. (Alcoholic beverages will not be available for sale during this special meeting.)
