Johnson County Auditor, Travis Weipert, Resigns

Johnson County Auditor Travis Weipert has resigned his office as of July 25, 2024, due to personal health reasons.

Weipert also notified the Board of Supervisors and the deputy commissioner of elections that he is no longer seeking re-election.

Since Weipert’s nomination was made at the primary election in June, the vacancy will be filled at this year’s general election on November 5, 2024, pursuant to Iowa Codes 69.14A(2)(b) and .14A(4).

The Johnson County Empowerment/Early Childhood Iowa Area Board is accepting applications for infant, toddler, and preschool scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year. The scholarship programs can assist parents in paying for quality childcare and preschool experience for their child.

Infant and toddler scholarships are available for children who have not yet turned 3 years old by Sept. 15, 2024. These scholarships help fund quality childcare at the eligible program of the family's choice.

Active shooter training on Aug. 2, 2024

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Johnson County Emergency Management Agency will lead an active shooter training exercise with multiple law enforcement agencies, emergency response agencies, and community agencies on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at the Clear Creek Amana High School and Middle School. The exercise will begin at 8 a.m. and is anticipated to conclude by 1 p.m.
