Johnson County has created a Direct Assistance Program to provide assistance to residents who experienced negative economic impacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Johnson County Empowerment/Early Childhood Iowa Area Board to hold budget forum April 21
The Johnson County Empowerment/Early Childhood Iowa Area Board will hold a public budget forum from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022. The budget forum is an opportunity for community members to learn more about how Early Childhood Iowa funds are utilized to assist Johnson County children ages 0-5 and their families.
The forum will be held in a hybrid format – both in person and via Zoom. The physical meeting will take place in Room 203 B/C of the Johnson County Health and Human Services Building, 855 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City. To participate via zoom go to:

Eagle Avenue over I-80 closed to traffic starting Monday, April 11, 2022
An Iowa Department of Transportation bridge deck overlay project will require closing the Eagle Avenue bridge over Interstate 80. The closure of Eagle Avenue over Interstate 80 will begin on Monday, April 11, 2022.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of May 2022.

Johnson County Public Health (JCPH) will increase its capacity to address current and emerging health issues in the community by hiring an additional disease prevention specialist whose primary focus will be chronic disease prevention. The position is a result of Johnson County’s investment of funds received from the federal government through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Johnson County accepting grant applications from area nonprofits to reduce food insecurity
Johnson County is accepting applications from area nonprofit and charitable organizations that provide services to reduce food insecurity and improve access to healthy food for residents in the community. The County may award up to $90,000 in funding to organizations providing services to residents.
