One Johnson County polling place will permanently move beginning with the fall 2018 elections, and voters in another precinct will return to their permanent polling site.
Voters in Iowa City Precinct 13 (former polling place Hawks Ridge Apartments) will now vote at Prairie Hill Co-Housing, 140 Prairie Hill Lane.
Iowa City 18 voters will return to longtime polling place Longfellow Elementary, 1130 Seymour Avenue. Thanks to the Kirkwood Avenue Church for hosting voting during construction at Longfellow.
Our office sent voters in Iowa City precincts 13 and 18 new cards beginning August 9.
We will be voting at one temporary site this fall. Due to construction at Horace Mann Elementary, Iowa City Precinct 21 voters will vote at St. Wenceslaus Church, 630 E. Davenport Street. Voters were notified of this temporary move before the June 5 primary.
Other permanent polling place moves since the 2016 presidential election:
- Penn Township (including East Lucas North) has moved from Penn Elementary School to Liberty High School, 1400 S. Dubuque Street.
- Iowa City Precinct 4 moved from the Art History Building to the nearby Visual Arts Building, 107 River Street.
- University Heights will vote at City Hall at 11302 Melrose Avenue. University Heights voted at a temporary site in 2016, and moved permanently to City Hall as of the 2017 city election.
- Washington Township will vote at the same building at 1592 Angle Road SW, but the name has changed. The former Washington Township School is now called the Mid-Prairie Home School Education Center (HSEC)
