Johnson County is accepting applications for Social Services Emergency Food and Housing Assistance Grants. The county may award up to $200,000 in funding to nonprofit, charitable organizations providing services to Johnson County residents.

The funding will assist organizations to sustain existing services and build capacity to meet the growing demand for food and housing assistance. If awarded, grant money must be expended between Dec. 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026.

The grant application is available at  https://www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/bids-and-proposals.

An estimated 11.5% of Johnson County residents, including over 14% of children, are food insecure and lack consistent access to adequate food. Additionally, 67% of renters in Johnson County pay more than 30% of their income on rent and are considered housing cost burdened.

Applications are due by noon on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025. For more information, contact Social Services Director Lynette Jacoby at [email protected] or 319-356-6090.
