JCSO Assists in Recovering Stolen Vehicle from Iowa River

July 17, 2025 (JOHNSON COUNTY, IA)  – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle from the Iowa River at 6:41AM this morning, July 17, 2025, at the Curtis Bridge Boat Ramp near I-380 near North Liberty. The vehicle was found in the water near the boat ramp, about 3-4 feet deep with the top of the vehicle visible above water. First responders confirmed that the vehicle was unoccupied, and there are no searches underway for missing persons.

The vehicle was reported stolen to the Iowa City Police Department yesterday, July 16, 2025. The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, and no further information is available for release. 

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the North Liberty Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Johnson County Ambulance Service.
