Iowa City Fire Department Responds to Fire at the Johnson County Courthouse

JOHNSON COUNTY, IA, May 2, 2025 - On May 1, 2025, at 7:45pm the Iowa City Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Johnson County Courthouse, 417 S. Clinton St, in Iowa City. Upon arrival firefighters found a working fire on the third floor of the building. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Department and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. 

The Johnson County Courthouse and Johnson County Clerk of Court will be open for normal operations today, May 2, 2025.
