Johnson County will host two public input sessions Thursday, June 26, for community members to learn about and share ideas on housing issues in the County’s non-metro area. This includes the unincorporated area, villages and the six small cities of Hills, Lone Tree, Oxford, Shueyville, Solon and Swisher.
The sessions will be led by CommunityScale, a firm with expertise in housing assessments and solutions, and will include information on existing housing and projected needs. Each public session will include a brief presentation on the study’s initial findings, followed by informal discussion:
- 10 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 26, 2025, at The Midnight Gem, 2613 Ders Dr. NW in Swisher. The presentation starts at 10:15 a.m. Free parking is available at the site.
- 5:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Hills Community Center, 110 Main St. in Hills. The presentation starts at 5:45 p.m. Free parking is available at the site.
Printed information will be available in Arabic, English, French, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
In addition to the public sessions, the consultants are convening focus groups and meeting with elected officials in each non-metro city. A public survey available in multiple languages, along with other public input events will follow in the coming weeks and months. CommunityScale will develop an online dashboard to engage with the public.
