Law Enforcement and Victim Advocacy Agencies Team Up for Crime Victims’ Rights Week Event
April 17, 2026 (JOHNSON COUNTY, IA) – The Johnson County Attorney’s Office has teamed up with local law enforcement and victim advocacy agencies to host a free community event in honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The event will take place from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Dream City (611 Southgate Avenue) in Iowa City. The theme of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week this year is “Listen. Act. Advocate. Protect Victims, Serve Communities.”
The open house-style event welcomes community members to stop by and learn about the resources available to crime victims and experience insights into the challenges that victims face. Victims, loved ones, and community supporters are encouraged to learn how we can better support crime victims and raise awareness for local organizations dedicated to serving victims on their journey to recovery.
Participating agencies include the Johnson County Attorney’s Office, Johnson County Community Violence Intervention, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the Johnson County Sexual Assault Response Team, the Domestic Violence Intervention Program/Rape Victim Advocacy Program (DVIP/RVAP), the Iowa City Police Department, the Waypoint Survivors Program, and United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties.
