The Johnson County Ambulance Service (JCAS) received full accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), becoming one of only four ambulance services in the State of Iowa and one of 180 in the country to meet this achievement.
The accreditation review included an intensive application process and a multi-day on-site inspection by outside experts. Reviewers from across the nation visited JCAS areas and reported zero deficiencies.
The primary focus of the CAAS standards is high-quality patient care, which is accomplished by establishing national standards that not only address the delivery of patient care but also the ambulance service's total operations and its relationships with other agencies, the public, and the medical community. The CAAS standards most often exceed state or local licensing requirements.
The CAAS Panel of Commissioners granted JCAS full accreditation through Feb. 28, 2028.
“It is important that the public knows we have one of the greatest ambulance services in the country. To be recognized with zero deficiencies speaks volumes about our staff’s hard work and commitment to all aspects of the EMS profession, as well as Director Fiona Johnson’s leadership, and the support we get from the Board of Supervisors,” said Ben Symonds, Johnson County Ambulance Assistant Director.
