MEETING MINUTES

 

 

Members Present:  Dawn Alam, Gary Boseneiler, Brandon Davis, Keshia Fields, John Hannaford, Fiona Johnson, Kristen Morrow, Laurie Nash, Annie Nugent, Kyle Phillips, Jordan Plath, Lynn Rose, BJ Salazar, Heather Sanderson, Lora Shramek, and Ana Studt.

 

 

Approval of Minutes: August 17, 2021 meeting minutes approved with some revisions.   

Next Meeting Date and Time:  Tuesday, October 19, 2021

Ice Breaker: BJ Salazar.  What is your favorite comfort food?

Budget Balance:  $13,655.34.  $3,000 for e-learning will be paid soon.  We have 150 licenses for e-learning.  The learning provider should be reviewed each year to see if a different provider is better or has different classes.  Current learning is “Micro-aggressions”, “Unconscience Bias”, and “Diversity and Inclusion Sensitivity”

            Budget Session: In November.  At October’s meeting we will discuss FY23 budget.

Cultural and Health Assessment:  Cultural Assessment survey had 327 responses out of 591 employees.  A 55% response rate.  In 2013, D & I Committee survey had 33% response rate. A few members said their co-workers were concerned that they would be identified by their response.  There is a lack of trust and Keshia said she saw that too when she visited each department and office.  People did like the personal report.   The provider will give a debriefing of the data in October.  Keshia will give a Board of Supervisors presentation after that.

Welcoming Week:  Overall it was well received. 

Qualtrics:  Management survey, Onboarding and Offboarding surveys, Engagement survey.  Discussed the number of surveys for some supervisors if they hire a large number of temporary or seasonal employees.  Also SEATS employees take a few months to complete training so those surveys will need to be given later. 

Language Access Plan:  This is having resources available to communicate in another language.  Keshia will follow up next meeting with more information.

ARPA:  No new information.

Policy Reviews/Recommendations:  Employee handbook policies are reviewed on an as needed basis. 

Diversity Website: https://www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/diversity.  Will continue to develop the new website and keep updated.
