Paul (Ted) Rummelhart was born 03/18/1928 to Clara and Clarence Rummelhart in Riverside, Iowa. Ted had 8 siblings with many of them also serving in the military.

Ted was sent to Japan, assigned to Motor Transport as a mechanic. When the 5th U.S. Infantry Regiment in Korea suffered heavy casualties, Motor Transport in Japan was raided for replacements. Ted became an ammo bearer for a .50 caliber machine gun. Before long he was the assistant gunner and then the gunner, as the others fell. Ted never talked much about it, unless asked as he had become a machine gunner in the most decorated unit in Korea, The 5th Regimental Combat Team.

Ted married Jacqueline (Judy) Manasmith 10/10/1958 and lived in Iowa City. They had one son, Randy Paul (Army) 07/27/59-04/20/80. Ted worked and retired from University of Iowa Hospitals as a plumber. Ted passed away 11/20/05.

Honors earned: Presidential Unit citation 5th RCT Korea, Korean Service Medal with three (3) Bronze Service Stars, & the United Nations Service Medal
