Robert L Parrott was born January 21, 1923 in Iowa City, Iowa. The son of Charles (Polly) Parrott and Anna Neuman Parrott. Bob graduated from Iowa City High School in 1942. He enlisted in the United States Army July 10, 1943. He was assigned to HQ Company, 3rd Battalion , 143rd Infantry during the war. Bob served on campaigns at Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Central Europe.

Bob returned to the United States on December 31, 1945. Bob married Romona D. Baculis in 1947. They had four children together. Bob was the first hired Iowa City Fire Fighter post WWII, he went on to serve in that capacity for 31 years.

Medals earned: Three Overseas Service Bars, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars & Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct, and WWII Victory Medal.
