ENS George J. "Jake" Swenka, from Tiffin, Iowa began his military career on June 27th, 2013 on Induction Day at the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), as a member of the class of 2017. Throughout the four years at USNA, Jake held various offices for the 18th company to include: training corporal, platoon sergeant, squad leader, operations officer, academics officer, and executive officer. Jake graduated on May 26, 2017 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy and received orders to report to Naval Air Station Pensacola for Aviation Preflight Indoctrination (API). Upon completion of API on November 15th, 2017, Jake was assigned to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi for Primary flight training in the T-6B Texan II aircraft.
