Donald James Cox saw service in the Pacific War Theater in WWII. He returned to the states and remained as a Reservist. He was called back to active duty September 13, 1950 where he was with the 4039th Engineer Combat Battalion in Korea. He was the youngest of the four Cox brothers to serve in WWII. He died in Texas in 1954.

Donald served from 1943-1946 and attained the rank of PFC.

He and his three brothers are named on the Veterans National Recreation Trail at Coralville Lake, Iowa.
