Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center

The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center (BHUCC) is a unique collaborative among multiple entities providing mental health and substance abuse services under one roof. This will be the first of its kind in Iowa, following a national movement to provide better access to behavioral healthcare. This effort emerged from a union of various Johnson County visionaries -- area city council members, Board of Supervisors, law enforcement, social services, health care providers and local non-profits. BHUCC will provide a safe, effective alternative to emergency room care or incarceration for adults suffering from a behavioral health crisis. This provision of care goes hand-in-hand with local law enforcement's implementation of their Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) initiative.
