Local transportation programs updates due to Covid-19

Iowa City Transit – returns to regular summer service schedule; resumes fare collection June 15

  • Effective Monday, June 15, 2020, Iowa City Transit will return to the normal weekday summer service schedule and resume fare collection.
  • Hours of operation will be 6 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. Monday- Friday, and 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturdays.
  • The City strongly recommends all customers wear a cloth mask and socially-distance at transit stops while boarding and on the bus. Cloth masks are available for the public free of charge at our Parking Office located at 335 Iowa Avenue, while supplies last.
  • Riders should begin boarding at the front of the bus on 6/15.

Coralville Transit – will continue modified schedule and suspension of fare collection

  • SEATS is billing $2 per trip for trips that start in Iowa City starting 6/15/20
    • Invoiced on 15th of each month, due 15th of next month.  
    • Will take what’s left on punch card as payment.
  • No fare for Coralville trips for now

• Aims to increase awareness of public transit and expand potential ridership.
• Strives to improve overall mobility for elderly, low-income persons, and persons with disabilities.

How does this work?


Anyone can contact the Mobility Coordinator regarding a transportation need. The services of the Mobility Coordinator are provided at no charge to the user.

Funding for the Mobility Coordinator is made possible through the Iowa DOT, Johnson County, City of Iowa City and City of Coralville.
